Technology transfer and commercialization of Czech originated inventions to the US and Asia are
core activities of CzechUS, LLC. We actively seek the best commercially viable inventions in the
Czech Republic, evaluate their commercial potential and represent selected owners of the
intellectual property in their attempts to transfer their new technologies, find partners for

Protection Of Intelectual Property
In certain cases filling from the Czech Republic can represent substantial time and cost savings
during the initial phase of a patent application.
Legislation related to protection of intellectual property rights in the Czech Republic is fully
harmonized with EU laws and legislation. Common types of protected intellectual property include
copyrights, trademarks, patents, industrial design and trade secrets. Patents granted in the Czech
Republic are valid for 20 years from the filing date of the application.
Applications under PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) or European Patents can be filed through the
Industrial Property Office of the Czech Republic. The Applicant is granted a priority from the date of
the application. Priority has to be enforced within 12 months. The Industrial Property Office
publishes the application 18 months after the filling date of the application.
A system of deferred examination is valid in the Czech Republic. In compliance with the European
patent system the substantive examination is carried out upon the applicant's request which must
be filed within 36 months from the filing date of the application. On average it takes 3-5 years for
patents to be granted.
